help us celebrate National Medical Librarians Month ! We will be having free
giveaways, tours, and demonstrations to acquaint you better with ways that
the library can aid in your work here at the Stroger Hospital.

New NLM Mobile Link in PubMed®
A new link, NLM Mobile, will be added to PubMed's blue side bar. Like the Text
Version link that takes you to a page providing specialized PubMed searches
for text browsers, the NLM Mobile link provides access to a directory of PubMed
tools that are appropriate for mobile devices. These include Palm Powered™ and
Pocket PC handheld computers as well as newer smartphones and Blackberry™ devices.
The directory links to:
- PubMed for Handhelds Web site, which is designed for the small screen and Web
browser of any mobile device.
- PubMed on Tap software, an application that works on Palm Powered and Pocket
PC handheld computers. It allows user-customized searching.
- Wireless System for Emergency Responders (WISER), software for Palm Powered
or Pocket PC devices to assist first responders in hazardous material incidents.
- NCBI Bookshelf, with downloadable versions of books from the NCBI Bookshelf
for any mobile device.

Resource Highlight: NURSING
You may or may not be familiar with the fact that the Academic Center / Library
has purchased the CINAHL database for your use. CINAHL stands for the Cumulative
Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature. The database coverage begins
in 1982 and continues to the present. According to Ovid (the database provider), "Virtually
all English-language publications are indexed along with the publications of
the American Nurses Association and the National League for Nursing."
To gain access to this database, you need to be on the Stroger Hospital campus.
Point your browser to our library's Webpage: http://www.cchaclib.org. On that
page, click on the link to OvidWeb. Next, click the red button "Continue" at
the top left of the page. Then, click on the link for CINAHL, which is the
second to the last database listed on the page. For assistance in searching
CINAHL, please call the library to set up a free consultation 312-864-0505.
Additionally, we lease e-content to 45 nursing journals. There are 13 journals
pertaining to nursing administration and management, 11 journals related
to nursing education, 11 journals about nursing research, and 23 journals
pertaining to nursing specialties. To view a list of these journals, go to
the database called "Your Journals @ Ovid;" click on "Browse
Journals;" click on "Browse Journals by Subject;" then click
on the "Nursing" link a the top of the page. To gain access to
the tables of contents of a journal, click on the "Issue List," then
the "Table of Contents." For the full-text of an article, click
on "Ovid Full-Text" on the right hand side of a citation. For full-text
nursing books click on “Books @ Ovid” from the Ovid database.
Select Nursing from the “Browse by Subject” index to see a listing
of books.
